Olympic shot putter shot dead by wife in self defence

Laut, 52, who won a bronze award for the Unites States at the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles, was shot 4 times in the head in his behind grassed area in Aug by what military believed at the time was a burglar.

In a statement, her counsel Ron Bamieh said: "There won"t be any brawl she shot him. Our on all sides is it"s a official carnage and it was finished in self-defence. She was aroused of him."

Mr Bamieh claimed the shot dabble had grabbed a gun and in jeopardy to kill the couple"s adopted son Michael, 11. His mother seized the gun and shot him prior to he could combat it afar from her, the counsel claimed.

"She doesn"t know how most shots she fired. She has mourned his death. She has a clever idea that when all the contribution are heard, the law will come out," he said.

He claimed Mrs Laut had been verbally and physically abused by her father for most years dating behind to high school.

He additionally claimed that Mrs Laut injected her father with steroids at slightest once prior to the 1984 Games.

Prosecutors in Ventura County, California, explain Mrs Laut killed the former contestant in cold red blood and it was not self defence.

Bill Haney, the Deputy District Attorney, said: "This was an execution-style attempted attempted attempted murder in that a man was shot mixed times in the head by his wife."

Mrs Laut has pleaded not guilty to attempted attempted attempted murder and been expelled on bail of $1 million (�600,000).
