Thousands of passed starfish lonesome a pebble beach over a mile-long stretch.

It is thought they drifted in to shoal waters to feed on mussels and alternative shellfish but were brought ashore.

The starfish were strewn along the beach at Budleigh Salterton, East Devon.

The Environment Agency pronounced it appeared to be a healthy feeling and not caused by pollution.

A line of the creatures spread out for some-more than a mile opposite the pebbles at Budleigh Salterton.

One consultant pronounced the routine of facsimile had left the starfish "tired out" and they had been left "susceptible" to tides and the wind.

Similar events occur once or twice a year in the UK, but it is the initial time for Budleigh Salterton.

Dr David Gibson, handling executive of the National Marine Aquarium in Plymouth, told BBC News "They similar to to parent in areas similar to this, in shoal H2O nearby a pebble beach.
